RIGA ws poster

On july 18, Latitude with PILA 40 is going to introduce the lecture on the project CALAMITA/À – Investigations and Researches on the Vajont Territories by Gianpaolo Arena and Marina Caneve.

The project CALAMITA/À is a territorial survey tool that through a planned research wants to study in depth the ongoing transformations in the region, generate debates, reveal weaknesses, attract interest and knowledge around a place that has still to be well defined. Morphology, orography, infrastructures, social context, are only some of the analized topics. Art, sociology, urbanism and photography contribute to the definition of territorial identity with an open multidisciplinary approach. Thanks to a plurality of points of view CALAMITA/À wants the territory becomes a laboratory and a favored observation place.

Handmade Serigraphy

12th March 2014

Categories > Exhibition, Research

serigrafia vajont

Latitude started to experiment with handmade serigraphy on a dedicated poster for the research project CALAMITA/À – Investigations and Researches on the Vajont Territories – curated by Gianpaolo Arena, Marina Caneve and Allegra Martin – for the 5oth anniversary of the Vajont tragedy. The project is conceived as a tool for investigating a territory through the exploration of the changes in progress, generating questions, revealing critical points and attracting interests and awareness on a crucial place such as the Vajont dam and surroundings. Art, sociology, urbanism and photography  and a plurality of visions contribute to the definition of the project through an open, multidisciplinary approach and are aimed at transforming the perception of the territory.

Latitude is developing a series of artifacts, the first of which is a serigraphy-poster , focusing on the cartography and the representations of that territory especially over the last century.

On the line of that first exercises, Latitude is continuing exploring the Dolomites’ region with a research that has been recently launched by Landscape Stories on the Vajont tragic event of 1963. The new exploration project, called Calamita/à, aims at gathering photographers, artists and very different figures around that theme with different works. Opening of the X Architecture Biennale of São Paulo

15th October 2013

Categories > Exhibition, Research

Wall - X Biennale São Paulo

Reading the Incremental Occupation of Territories is opening today within the section Modos de fluir / Ways of flowing of the X Architecture Biennale of São Paulo at Praca Victor Civita.

Through a retrospective reading of the spatial transformations, Latitude aims at raising awareness about the effects of our small actions repeated hundreds thousands times over the territorial support, specifically over the water flow behaviour. The exhibition is the result of a collaboration of Latitude Platform with the Nucleo de Tecnologia Urbana (NTU) of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil.

A large map is overlapped by a series of posters that reproduce the different representations of the territorial changes of the Treviso Province. Right below, five booklets lying on a bench respectively describe the three chosen reading scales for the Italian case study and the two Brazilian ones. Four conceptual models reproduce the delayering of four territorial samples – Treviso and Musano (Italy), Caxias do Sul and Eldorado do Sul (Brazil) – on standing transparent plexiglas sheets. A video compares the cases providing facts about the effects of the urbanization  and on the magnitude and recurrence of the flood events. The description is enriched by the work of emerging photographers as the one of Gianpaolo Arena.

Praça Victor Civita – Rua Sumidouro, 580, Pinheiros (Metrô Pinheiros) open daily till the 1st of December from 8 am till 6 pm.
